Utley in Blue
It’s gonna seem strange seeing Chase Utley wearing a blue #26. For the first time since he was traded to the Dodgers last August, Utley will face the Phillies starting tonight. Actually, it’s Alumni Night in Dodger Stadium as four members of the Phillies’ 2008 World Champions will be in uniform, Ryan Howard, Carlos Ruiz, Utley and Joe Blanton. Time for a mini team photo.
Next week Utley returns to Citizens Bank Park for the first time, http://www.phillies.com/alumni.
By winning two of three over the weekend the Phillies improved their Petco Park record to an amazing 32-11 . . . What do Aaron Nola, Zach Eflin and Jake Thompson have in common? Each made his MLB debut with the Phillies and lost. Thompson was the 2,000th to play for the Phillies since the franchise was established in 1883. According to baseball-reference.com he was the 18,825th in MLB history . . . Jerad Eickhoff won yesterday for the first time since July 4. In his three previous starts, the Phillies scored just three total runs. Prior to yesterday his 3.20 runs of support per 9.0 innings was the 3rd lowest in MLB . . . Howard has 13 home runs in 130 at-bats in Dodger Stadium.
Five things to know about the Dodgers:
**Fresh from winning two of three from the Red Sox at home.
**LA has 165-137 record against the Phillies at Dodger Stadium.
**In 2015, 3-1, including shutouts in last two games (Kershaw & Greinke). Phillies haven’t scored a run in 20 straight innings.
**Opponents are hitting .224, second lowest in the NL.
**They have placed 25 players on the DL, most in NL history, but are still in the pennant race.
