Scoreless Bullpen

After a rough start to the season, the bullpen is settling in.  Starter Vince Velasquez allowed three runs in his six innings and then the pen closed the door.  David Hernandez, Hector Neris and Jeanmar Gomez combined for three scoreless innings, two hits, two walks and five strikeouts.   Bryce Harper, who homered against Gomez nine days ago, ended the game with a weak grounder to Maikel Franco.

Gomez is now five-for-five in save opportunities.  He also has two wins so he’s been involved in seven of the Phillies 10 victories.

00 Blanco

Andres Blanco, starting at shortstop, had a single, double, homer, two runs scored and two RBI.  There isn’t a better extra player in the league.  He’s also a mentor to the young Latino players on the club.  He’s a plus is so many ways.
