The Phillies will have their top two prospects on Team USA for the Futures Game that will take place in Cincinnati on Sunday afternoon, July 12. Game time will be 3 p.m. It will be televised by MLB Network. The annual game is part of the All-Star Game ceremonies. The All-Star Game will be played Tuesday night, July 14, and will be on FOX TV.
SS J.P. Crawford returns to the Futures Game for the second straight year. The Phillies # 1 pick in 2013 didn’t start this season until May 6 because of an oblique muscle strain sustained in spring training. After hitting .392 in 21 games with Clearwater, the 20-year-old was promoted to Reading where he is hitting .298 in 24 games. In three pro seasons he has .302 average with 129 walks and 129 strikeouts.
RHP Aaron Nola followed Crawford as the Phillies top pick a year ago. The 22-year-old out of LSU began this season with Reading, 7-3, 1.88 ERA in 12 games started and was promoted to Lehigh Valley where he is 2-0 for two starts. Since signing as a pro last summer, he has a 13-6, 2.30 ERA for 25 starts. He’s walked 21 in 144.2 innings.

Some 40 Phillies Alumni from Hall of Famers Steve Carlton and Mike Schmidt to 88-year-old infielder Don Hasenmayer who played a total of 11 games with the Phils in 1945-46, will be introduced on Saturday night. Alumni will also surprise fans in several ways on both Saturday night and Sunday afternoon, August 1-2.
