Act 2, Another Hit
Act 2 for Franco’s Broadway Show was a repeat, five RBIs in an 11-6 win. First Phillies player ever to have back-to-back five RBI games since RBI became an official stat in 1920. He did it with a three-run homer to right, and after getting drilled in his hip his next at-bat, delivered a game-winning two-run double in the top of the ninth. Pay back.
Phillies bullpen shut out the Yankees over the last 4.2 innings to pave the way for their third consecutive win and third straight series win over the Yankees.
In their first 73 games, the Phillies biggest inning was four runs (six times). Last night they had two, five-run innings. Phillies first three batters were 8-for 12, seven runs scored, six RBI. Revere had his third straight three-hit game. Rupp hit his first big league home run and Blanco had a bases-clearing triple. Everybody hits! Yoo-hoo.
Utley went on the DL after the game with an inflamed right ankle and Ruf was recalled from Lehigh Valley.
Hamels returns to the mound this afternoon after missing one start. Scouts section will be overflowing. Not talking about Boy Scouts. With the July 31 trading deadline fast approaching, the rumor mill will be churning big time.
