On To DC

Howard and Utley, two veterans, continued swinging the bat but the Rockies won yesterday to earn a split.  Howard hit another homer, his first to left field.  In his last 28 games, he’s 29-100 with nine homers and 19 RBI.  Utley has 9 hits in last 6 games, including four doubles.

After four days of damp, cold, cloudy days in Denver, the Phillies flew east to Washington for some sunshine and warmth this weekend.  Three-game series starts tonight and then it’s on to New York for three starting Monday afternoon, Memorial Day.

With the split, the Phillies record against NL West teams slipped to 5-2.  Now, the dreaded NL East where the Phillies have a dismal 9-16 record (3-4 vs. the Nationals; 1-5 vs. the Mets).
