Hamels, Phillies On A roll
Since last season, Hamels is perfect when the Phillies score three or more runs when he’s in the game. That perfection was increased to 11-0 with last night’s 4-3 win in Denver. Hamels was outstanding, giving up one run in 7.1 innings. Garcia gave up a run in the eighth and Papelbon did the same in the ninth but struck out Arenado to improve his perfect save record, 10 for 10.
Big hit was a two-run double by Herrera in the sixth inning. So, for the first time since September 5-12, 2012, the Phillies have won six in a row. The starting pitching has a 1.60 ERA in the streak. Hamels has now won three straight, allowing a total of three runs.
