Hamels-Harvey Tomorrow

Revere and Howard bats are starting to warm up (combined seven hits in last night’s loss), Cody’s bat is going the other way (0-5, four strikeouts) but the pitching is having trouble putting up zeros.

Trip ended in Atlanta, a 3-7 record. In the last nine games, a walk to the enemy wound up scoring.  They gave up 57 runs and 40 walks on the trip.  18 of those walks scored. In 29 games, the enemy has scored in the first inning 13 times.  Going into last night’s game, starters had a 5.09 ERA while the relievers were 3.02.

Team returned home last night and will have a day off today.  Mets are in for the weekend with a classic pitching match-up set for tomorrow night, Harvey vs. Hamels.

Crawford started this season in the rehab program at Carpenter Complex after sustaining a left oblique muscle strain while playing in a minor league spring training game on March 24.  His progressive program, which is basically the same for any position player, included conditioning, therapy, tossing, routine fielding drills which increase in difficulty, dry swinging the bat, hitting off a Tee, hitting against a coach, live batting practice, game activity as a designated hitter and finally full game action. Back-to-back nine-inning games was the final step before being activated.
