Still No Road Sweep
Last five road games, Phillies pitchers had a 0.41 ERA, allowing two runs in 44 innings until Doc gave up three in seven innings on Wednesday afternoon. Then, the bullpen’s seven scoreless innings streak came to a screeching halt.
Miami’s sleepy offense awoke with six runs off three relievers in the eighth inning putting a one-run game out of reach.
Phillies were primed for their first three-game sweep on the road but came up short. Instead, they settled for two of three for the fourth time since the trade deadline.
They’ve had one three-game sweep at home, Milwaukee starting on July 23. The current road trip takes the Phillies to Milwaukee for four starting Thursday night. Bernie Brewer would love to pay back Phillie Phanatic.
