Sometimes, that word is just an expression.

Sometimes, it means a deep hole.

Sometimes, it relates to the physical condition of a patient  “he is doing well.”

Since clobbering the Pirates, 12-2, on May 17, the Phillies are….well…..in a well and not doing well.  We’ve lost 9 of  the last 13, been out-scored, 52-22 (shut out 5 times) while batting .195 and made more errors, 12-1.   Hitting, power, speed, defense and pitching. Right now, only the pitching is there…or, doing well.  That is, until yesterday.

We’ve lost to veterans, rookies, lefties, righties, pitchers from different countries, at home, on the road, wearing three different caps, day games, night games, national TV or local TV.  Only common denominator…all games have been in Eastern Daylight Time zone.

May ended 16-12, which means it could have been a sky-high month except for the last 13 games.

Well, June is here and time to begin a new month.  A year ago, June wasn’t very friendly, 11-15.  Time to change the June tune.

The offense will get going.  Someone will pay.

National TV
Tonight’s game from Atlanta is on ESPN, but blacked out in the Philly market where the game will be seen on Comcast SportsNet.
